System Reset

The hypervisor provides an interface for "enlightened reboot." That is, the hypervisor provides a mechanism through which a guest operating system can request that the hypervisor reboot the hardware platform. The hypervisor provides this mechanism though the system-reset model-specific register (MSR) that is accessible on all virtual processors of a partition that possesses the AccessResetMsr privilege. For more information about AccessResetMsr, see the HV_PARTITION_PRIVILEGE_MASK union reference page.
