Hypervisor Inter-Partition Communication

One partition can communicate with another partition by using the hypervisor's messages and events mechanisms. In both mechanisms, the hypervisor signals notification by using the synthetic interrupt controller (SynIC).

The hypervisor implements functions that partitions can use to communicate with each other. For more information about these functions, see Inter-Partition Communication Functions.

The following sections describe the hypervisor's implementation of inter-partition communication:

SynIC Messages

Monitored Notifications

SynIC Event Flags

Hypervisor Ports and Connections

SynIC MSRs

SIM and SIEF Pages

Inter-Partition Communication Data Types
